THE HEART BEHIND THE MOVEMENT
I started More Than A Mirror from my own experiences of learning that our worth is not defined by what we see on the outside. During my recovery from knee surgery this year, I was reminded of the importance of resilience, self belief, and appreciating who we are beyond our physical abilities.
My year working with children also showed me how important it is to nurture confidence and help young people recognise their own unique qualities from an early age.
Through More Than A Mirror, I hope to empower the next generation to look beyond appearance, embrace their individuality, and understand that their true value comes from within.
This message is deeply personal to me. Throughout my journey with severe eczema, there were times when I struggled to recognise the person looking back at me in the mirror. My skin affected not only my appearance but also my confidence, and I often felt defined by what others could see on the outside.
Over time, I learned that confidence cannot be built solely on appearance, it comes from the qualities we carry within us, including kindness, resilience, compassion, and strength. Learning to see my own worth beyond my reflection transformed the way I viewed myself and helped me discover a deeper sense of self belief. More Than A Mirror was created from that experience: to remind young people that while appearance may change, the person they are on the inside is what truly matters and what makes them unique.
